The Dennis Bram Quartet

From 1989 to 2004, this ensemble captured the hearts of diners and celebrants everywhere in the New York area. Then Dennis Bram left for Florida and the New York jazz scene has not been the same ever since. Of all the bizarre and diverse engagements this group had, none can compare with the legendary run at the Carltun on the Park in Eisenhower Park from 1996 until 2008 (the act continued for four years after Dennis Bram's departure).  There are very few recordings, largely because the crowd noise overwhelmed the music.  Still, the few recordings that exist are historical rareties which capture, if not the flavor, then at least the noise of this epic gig set in the grand environment of a traditional smoky nightclub.

Ah, The Carltun!

The Dennis Bram Quintet

This time, the Dennis Bram Quintet (mis-introduced as a sextet for some unknown reason) appears in a two set outing from early spring of 2003. Saxophonist Dennis Bram is joined by bassist Terry Newman, drummer Herb Clay, pianist Robin Radus, and guitarist Lou Volpe for a rollicking night of jazz standards.
